I've had my workstand for at least 10 maybe even 15 years now, but it is in truth a bit crap.

It may be an early generation of one of these... But the retention thing on the back that stops it rotating is a bit rubbish, it's like a saw on both sides that's supposed to mesh together, but i can't really use it as it doesn't get good enough purchase to rotate the bike.
The legs which fold up are really tough as the coating has come off and it's just well, a bit old and tired really.

Out in fields it's arguably not the most stable thing either.. i wonder if 3 legs are better than 2 in this instance.

So, what you got for me ? It gets used pretty much every day..... There's a few cheap deals on a Park Tools 9.3.. which gets good reviews too.

I’d look around the paddock before taking advice from here but my 2p my Feedback Sports is very easy to use and may sway a bit but has coped with a Rise (light ebike) OK. I’d love one of their new HD stands but won’t spend the money

Edit: Having followed the link above I have the Pro Mechanic Bike Repair Stand.

If you’re able get a kestrel stand for home use, rock solid and handles everything I’ve ever put in it. Can be found second hand for sensible money. I’ve also got a feedback stand which uses the fork mount. This has had to be modded as it’s not long enough for a xl lls frame. Quality is top notch if a touch wobbly when loaded.

My old Feedback Sports stand is still robust and stable (with eebs as well) after years of use. I think it was the cheaper "Sport" model - only issue is the the knurled rotation knob needs wound up tighter after many years use - the more expensive versions have a better knob I believe. I'd buy again.

My cheapy Aldi stand has flat plastic feet with holes in so when you're out and about you can bash tent pegs into them. Then it's absolutely rock solid.

But... I wouldn't want to use my cheapy Aldi stand if I was away racing every weekend with a heavy DH bike. Maybe just look for something with big flat feet and do the tent peg trick for stability.

i've got the Feedback Sports Ultralight but the sliding holder thingie sucks badly.  It doesn't really slide so you have to unwind the knob a thousand turns while trying to support your bike.  Wish I had bought the pro really really

50% of the time it's ok, but 50% it's a question of positioning, angles, balance etc
I can't do things like undo cranks with it on, but a chain lube, brake bleed etc are generally speaking ok.

But yeah I'd like better.

I'd also look at some sort of flooring for paddock use, does making working on a bike way easier, if you drop something, you arnt rooting round in the grass.

Can you get something like a 6x4 horse stable mat (or similar) to put down to make it a bit less muddy and a bit more stable? I’ve got a Park Tools stand that I’ve had for about 15 years that has been bombproof in campsites, car parks and gardens. But as I’ve never raced I couldn’t tell you if it’s what you want

Got a feedback stand.

Yeah removing the bike is a bit of an art, but it's doable.

Had to tie the stand down the other day as the wind was howling. Used the wheels on the van as ground anchors.
