Doing SDW overnight next weekend.
I wear an Endura MT500 jacket like this, which is thin and good, great pockets, overall brilliant... but.. does hold the moisture when i sweat.
So i want something that will allow me to be dry under the jacket and wick the sweat out into the jacket without allowing too much back in...
Ideas please ?
Merino. Ice Breaker is fabulous, get one with a zip for max temp regulation, other more cost effective brands available.
Let's us know how it goes, I'm physcing myself up for an SDW attempt. Apologies for not being in touch about a ride, have had very little time on the bike aside from my holiday.
Don't wear a jacket, take a light windproof in case you need it
NOT merino.
It's good at being warm and damp, it's bloody poo at being warm and dry.
Merino is like a thin woolly jumper; it will stay a bit warmer, but it's rubbish as a technical wicking layer when compared to manmade fabrics.
Yup, the icebreaker stuff is brilliant. I got one of the ones with the zip pocket on the back and it is good for storing stuff securely as well. Well worth the cash.
IME no waterproof breathes enough to keep you dry, so it won't matter as long as it's warm when damp.
this for any distance!
Crikey +1 and ditch the jacket too for a pertex type windproof.
Pertex all the way unless it's tipping down
Wear whatever the hell you want to wear. It will make 0% difference.
