Just looking for a bit of a recommendation really if anyone has experience of either.

This is for my lad, not me. Racing his 2015 Sworks Enduro, 27.5.

Currently we've got in the bike
Wtb convict and Vigilante high grip.

In spares and on my bike we've got a Minion dhf 3c exo
Specialized butcher

But I was thinking of picking him something up for the races, or even just for one of them, the DH and using what he uses day to day for Milland enduro.

The race is likely going to be a very close variation on this track

I don't much mind if they're not much use other than this event as it's likely we'll be seeing similar events next season too etc.

I understand that weather can be as much a factor as anything else, so will bear that in mind.

Do you mean Milland Southern Enduro? If so, we rode it at the open day yesterday (having raced there a few years ago) and it's basically dirt with the odd root.. hard-packed in places, soft (and maybe muddy) in others, fairly rough and rutted all over.

So, any of the above tyres will be fine.. stick the grippiest / least worn on the front and one of the others on the back. If it's wet, let some air out.

Open day? Oh damn, we'd have done that if we'd known.

I can say that last time I raced at Milland I was much happier with a 2.6 Specialized Hill billy grid on the front than a 2.5 Maxxis Minion DHf exo 3c.

Magic Mary 2.35 Ultra soft Supergravity was also good on the front there and probably better than the above but I'd been trying lighter faster rolling tyres at the time.

The bloody issue I have with him is that he can barely notice anything I do or change

Fit new shock "feels the same"
Fit tyres "feels the same"

He's bloody useless at feedback. But the he just disappears off as soon as the first pedal stroke is done, boom, gone.

But I would like to give him the best chance possible, even if he can't tell.

I bought myself a dhf this week for the Aether7 and love it but what's right for me and what's right for him may differ

I like to have a set of mud spikes just in case of horrific mud, although the one time I needed them I'd only packed one.
