Recently changed car and one of these is now required for 4 bikes.

Any recommendations? Budget is a consideration!

Atera 3+1 system - sport strada maybe?
Great attachment system and a really good construction.
Not cheap though

Depends what sort of towbar you have.

I've used a 4 bike Thule rack on a flange type 2 bolt towbar.

Easy to take on and off, with a plate on the towbar, and it leaves the ball in place so still possible to tow.No problems over the lots of miles its been used but with 4 bikes on there may be some rubbing.I think i paid about &80.

Pendle. Bracket bolts behind the towball and the rack slots in.

Super stable, a bit industrial, but strong as. Bit spendy.

Mines had 4 heavy DH bikes on for 500+ mile trips and I have total confidence in it.

Some of those that clamp to the ball can move around a bit.

Not sure what the difference with the "sport" model is, but we've been very happy with the Altera Strada DL for the past few years. Light and easy enough to mount single handed. Easy to slide out of the way for good access to the boot and holds various combinations of bikes securely on long journeys. What's not to love? Oh yes, the price, but you forget about that in the end.

Tow bar being fitted monday, so I can't tell you what it's like!

I had a Mottez one before and that was good.

I currently have maxxraxx 4 bike although I've only used it for 2 bikes here are some points to bar in mind.
It's a bloody solid piece of kit been well impressed with it.

BUT take into account when buying it you WILL need the lightboard/number plate and if you have FS bikes you WILL need the x-bars as well as until yesterday we had been mounting the FS upside down on it to rest the frame on the maxxraxxx and not the shocks 😯

But when I tried to take the DH bike out at weekend I had an epic fail of after 20 min of playing around just could not get it on due to the placement of the shock so now just bit the bullet and ordered the X-bars.

Overall good piece of kit but you will need the extras that go with it. 🙂
