Tacx Swing Magnetic Trainer 08 or Tacx Sirius Soft Gel Folding Trainer 08?
I want to get a turbo trainer and wondered which of these is better.
The price is pretty much the same, but I wondered if anyone had advice on which is best.
Before you say.... I have baby sitting duties so cannot just go out and ride.
whichever is quietest then you wouldn't hear a baby (even my first one who had a very good set of lungs) over some turbos.
We have a listener which turns up pretty loud so hopefully that will be ok.
Fortius, bl**dy expensive but links up to your pc and you can actually ride routes, much more interesting than a straight turbo imho
I'm thinking of the £100-£130 mark to see if I use it regularly enough to warrant an upgrade first
We have just got the soft gel one and it is not that noisy in use. You will get very sweaty when you do use it
I borrowed one of the cheap ones and hated it, using it a couple of times. I then moved to the middle of nowhere so gave up the gym and bought one. Never regretted it, but I understand it is a huge investment.
Get a fan and some decent music on an iPod with the baby monitor in front of you so you can see the sound levels go up as they kick off.
It will hurt
Our conservatory is unheated at the moment due to heater being off and has a vigourous ceiling fan.
My plan was to open the doors when it gets too hot for just the cold and fan :o)
The bonus is that it also has a stereo, tv and dvd player.
The big problem for heat is getting it away from you hence the fan. I find that at the moment my bike moves as i use it but i think that is more to do with my technique (or lack of) then any thing else.
Just been looking at the Tacx site and forums. Is there any freely avialable video content to watch while riding? I don't fancy paying 30 euros per video from Tacx!
