Hi guys an girls , need to replace the bottom bracket on my haro 29er ss and want 1 that's gonna be half decent , any suggestions please ?
Shimano un55 is a good balance of cost and life
Or Phil wood if you want somthing to last and last
Shimano UN74 will last pretty mush for ever.
Tune and TA do some lighter (and far more expensive) ones.
.
Last time I wanted one I got very lucky, just got a new frme which was Italian thread, typed it into google, up came a brand new XTR-UN91 square taper on fleabay, Italian thread and correct axle length. £13.
UN54/55 last ages, cost little but fairly lardy
Worth the extra fiver for UN74, basically the same but with a hollow axle so it is a little lighter, lasts just as long.
Cool thanks guys much appreciated
they are pretty much giving them away on crc at the min
You'll never buy a UN7x anymore unless youre very lucky (in which case PM me coz Id love one!)
UN54 is the affordable way.
Can you still get un74
I have a new UN71, marked BG1.37 73, which has had a very long and happpy life in my spares box, so long in fact I no longer need it, mail(sort of) in profile.
BG1.37 73
73mm shell 🙁
And you need to quote the axle length too.....
I'd say 122.5 ?, which poss rings bells 1990s Giant Terrago, is it marked anywhere ?
the I'd say was from a tape measure
