I will soon be building a new front wheel for my commuter fixie and have been looking at the price of spokes. I will be going for the double butted variety and had decided on Sapim when I spotted some ACI spokes for half the price. Are these any good or am I best to stick to Sapim or DT ?

why do you suppose they're half the price? they might not be half as good, but they're still not as good. if a jobs worth doing......... sapim FTW. decent products make sense in places like spokes, bb, headset, hubs. just my thoughts anyway.

I use Sapim CX ray. Superb if OTT for a commuter bike.

I've found ACI spokes to be fine in my wheels which have been tot eh Alps twice and all over the UK and Scotland. no problems.

Spokes are well over spec'd anyway.

Save yourself the money.

If it's just a commuter, just throw in any old carp as long as they are stainless.

Nothing wrong with aci for commuter but I put dt comps (black) on mine because I'm a tart.
