As title, I'd rather have a reusable one, all seem very expensive and not sure which one will work best with shimano? Thanks.

SRAM power links will work with Shimano chains no probs.

I didn't think the SRAM ones were reusable? I had a right old time trying to get one off my Shimano chain.
I'm running without a split link but could do with a reusable one

Do not take the risk of KMC with shimano XTR or XT chains, I can testify that they do not fit and research has suggested they are out by a fraction of a mm but still out.

Try a SRAM or carry some proper shimano pins (the ones where one half breaks off.

Cheers

I've used a standard (i.e. re-useable) 9-speed SRAM Powerlink on a 10-speed Shimano chain with no problems at all.

The 10 speed SRAM black thingys (I think they're the non-reusable ones) are awful. Avoid.

I've used a 9 speed SRAM ok. For piece of mind I got a Clarks 10 speed one. (I find their 9 speed ones better than SRAM). Cheap.

Connex is the correct answer for all split link questions.

Plus one for what IHN says - Connex ftw - always easy to undo with hands. Never a problem in over 8 years of using them - road, xc and DH.

Strangely I can testify they do fit... in XT, XTR, Ultegra and Dura Ace.

Try YBN links - work fine, and much cheaper than SRAM/KMC

The SRAM ones that everyone believes are not re-usable but in actual fact are work fine.

They're not designed to be. You can force them apart, easily if you have master-link pliers, but they're designed to be single use. KMC, Connex etc are designed to be reusable, and thus make more sense IMO.

I use a KMC link on my 105 10spd chain. Works fine.

Don't bother spending loads on a split link, I picked up a 10 speed SRAM link from halfords for about £2.50 , get 2!

KMC works grand on Shimano 10 speed chains. Got one on my HG-X.

If you've got a Decathlon, their "own brand" is just KMC in a different packet, ideal.

I'm using KMC on a couple of different Shimano chains (XT and 105). Absolutely fine.

I buy SRAM chains that come with them and re-use them. No issues. So that makes more sense to me!

Good for you, the OP is asking which to buy and as there are cheaper solutions that are designed for the job rather than being bodgable it makes more sense.

+1 for the Clarks links - get them from chain reaction.

Using a KMC link with a 105 chain here. No problems in over 18 months.
