Currently using an Elite Qubo Fluid with a speed/cadence sensor for virtual power readings, but the sensor is no longer compatible with training apps. Ive tried a few and it keeps saying im doing 198kph in first gear. Great fun but no use to me.
The Elite Fluid trainer is quiet. Very quiet. So thats my main priority. Not looking for anything spectacular. Just want a power reading. Only trouble is Elite seem to be the last brand supported when apps release an update so need something else.
I'm currently looking at the Tacx Flow T2240 at £200. Does anyone have any experience with this or recommend something else?
Thanks!
I have the Tacx, its fine for trainer road and the like. The power reading was pretty close to my powertap pedals, so much so that I ended up selling them and now just work off the trainer.
It is slow to respond to sudden changes, so if you are doing short over unders for example it is better to take it out of erg mode and change your power via the bike gearing, but for steady blocks at different power levels its fine.
Occasionally it drops out but reconnects within 10-20 seconds.
I've got the 2240.
It works. I mainly use it on Zwift but I had no trouble connecting it to the Tacx program or other simulators. Ant+ or blue tooth. Survived all of last winter training and was as good as the budget trainer I had before for stability.
It is probably more noisy than the flashier options. It might not be accurate but it is consistent so that suits me. I would like a little more resistance. It would be nice to be able to do more climbing work out of the saddle.
Overall, I'm happy, I'm not sure what the extra cost gives you for many other trainers. There seems to be a huge jump in price for not all that much benefit.
