I'm looking at some new flat shoes, i wanted the specialized 2fo but cant get my size! So i've narrowed it down to two.
Addidas terrex cross SL or Shimano aM7.
i do local trails and a few trail centers each year. I haven't had new shows for a while, currently using some North Face approach shoes.
Cheers for help.
Worth contacting specialized, as they should be able to source them. Leisure lakes sorted me out via specialized.
I just found the original 2f0 on leisure lakes at £100, how do they do size wise?? Any one used the Terrex not sure if they look tough enough but might be just because they look like a trainer.
Are the AM7 really that bad?
are you a size 12 by any chance?
I'm going to recommend what I own: Addidas Terrex Cross SL.
Comfy, plenty grippy (Addidas now own 5-Ten, I believe) and look better than most off the bike - they're decent for walking too.
Why are five ten not on your list , they are pretty much the go to choice for the majority of flat pedal riders . Certainly grip pier than anything else out there . 2fo's are half a size smaller than other Spesh shoes .
Addidas terrex cross SL or Shimano aM7.
Of those two go for the Adidas
If you mean this AM7, then avoid. Utter shit
Bit harsh, I recon they are OK apart from the sole. Unfortunately the sole is a rather vital part of a flats shoe and its utter shit
The original 2fo's are spectacularly crap . Whoever thought of the name slip not for the sole clearly had a sense of humour .
Those AM7 look special.
Adidas. Just to be different, although I've heard only good things about them.
Shimano are/have replaced the AM7 with the GR9 which has a new sole from Michelin.
Should be better than the Vibram sole of the AM7 (and previous versions) ?
Bit harsh, I recon they are OK apart from the sole. Unfortunately the sole is a rather vital part of a flats shoe and its utter shit
I stand corrected 🙂
OP, got a pair of size 42s you can have for £25
I just found the original 2f0 on leisure lakes at £100,
that's what I paid for them the month they launched from LL 2 years ago. Plenty stock online for between £50/70.
FWIW i have really enjoyed using the shoe, tough as hell and I haven't had any issues with grip (burgtec user) however, I cant deny the sole shank is stiff (which i like) and the sole compound isn't especially soft- so I suspect that some will find them lacking grip and they tend to be vocal about it.. Its a tough, lightweight and quick drying shoe and hasn't let me down in any way. I know that's just another anecdotal view but hey.
I'm looking to get the improved 2fo 2.0 which appears to address these issues completely.
Wearing terrex sl as normal shoes, very comfy
I got the original 2fo they weighed a tonne. So after a long spell of spd only,
In december I got some vault v12 pedals and some adidas terrex trail cross protect (hitop boot)
The grip is unreal sometimes I have to look down to see if I’m wearing clipless or my adidas
And I can confirm adidas bought out 510 a few years ago for the stealth rubber technology
These are great for £25, although a slight tough narrow.

I have some 2fO and they are a decent shoe and seem to shrug mud off pretty well.
The original 2fo flats were spectacularly crap for grip on flats. The new ones went much better by all accounts.
The ClipLite models by comparison are great though.
The Adidas shoes look interesting, but I'd struggle to buy them over the newer 5-10 Freerider Pro.
Update! I got the the New 2018 Adidas, (Long story but i did order the older model online but the supplier let me down! They blamed courier but really they actually didn't have any) Got the 2018 on Adidas's own website super service.
The shoes are nice so far, super quality and stick well. They do come up narrow but i think there made to be a snug fit.
