As title, I am looking at running a single ring up front, 32-36 with a 11-36 rear cassette. Will I need the SGS or will the GS work ❓

M780 XT Shadow sgs!
I paid 54 from Merlin in the jan sales, but it looks like they're out of them now.
11-36 with 32 front ring!
Works brill!

I use a GS on my 1x10 setup I wouldn't use SGS for anything other than a triple up front, in fact I wish that Shimano would make a short cage XT mech.

GS should work fine with 1x10.

Thanks for the replies, looking at getting the whole lot, rear mech, shifter & cassette from that German site, pretty bloody cheap compared to CRC even with 10% off!

If you ask around on here somebody may give you a voucher code for Rose bikes (or if you do Facebook you can like them and get a voucher code for £10), they are so much cheaper than CRC/Merlin for the majority of Shimano stuff.

I bought a GS XT from them for my new 1x10 build and its fine and it should also me stronger and less prone to rock strikes than the SGS.
