This winter?
My YT is set up for trail tyre wise with butcher/purge
My hardtail currently has DHF/Minion SS on but I'm thinking I'll be riding this where it's flat near me locally so want it set up for tarmac, towpaths and the odd trail when it dries up and also make the bike a bit different from the YT.
I've got a Rocket ron and racing Ralph in the shed. They're lighter and more XC based, reckon it's a better option than the maxxis?
Yes, certainly, unless there is a lot of slop about.
There is but I can always jump on the FS with the mid tyres on if it's really bad (like today)
Depends on your "odd trail" - the DHF/SS combo will be a lot more durable than lightweight XC Schwalbes - perfect for tarmac and towpaths, but if your trails involve rocks or anything challenging, I'd prefer the Maxxis. From the sounds of it though, the lighter tyres will suit most of your riding.
