I need to get a bag for my CX bike, not sure whether a saddle bag would be better or a frame bag. I will need it to carry spare tube, multitool, wallet, keys, phone (the usual stuff).

Do i need a waterproof one or is a standard one good enough for resisting the weather? What size do i need for the above list? And is a saddle bag/frame bag better?

I will only be carrying one bottle on the downtube so front or rear triangle bag are options too.

Thanks.

Depends how big it all is?? Don't go too big, all you'll do is fill the space with stuff you don't need, and it depends what you're willing to stuff in your pockets
Waterproof for the phone and wallet, but you could just bag them separately

I use an Ortlieb roll-top saddle bag for my commute - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ortlieb-large-saddle-bag/ This model is big enough (2.7 litre) to easily carry shirt, socks underpants, pump, waterproof. There's a couple of smaller models as well at 1.3 & 0.6 litre capacity.

If you don't go the waterproof bag route then you'd still need to have something similar for the phone.

So, obviously depends on what you want you it for. I have the Alpkit possum frame bag for my longer rides and as a bag it's great - well built, easy to use, unobtrusive..it will easily carry what you listed. Depends on frame size how it'll for with your water bottle
.these things are never simple 😀
