I'm looking for a 100mm "suspension corrected" 29er rigid fork.
Going by appearance, the Salsa Firestarter and the Surly Krampus forks seem very similar. The main difference is the Surly fork is a bit cheaper and has a slightly longer offset. Both forks come with plenty of eyelets etc.
I had a Salsa Cromoto Grande previously and this was fine. It was only on a bike used for short commutes though. I do remember I could get it to flex and the disc to rub on the caliper. This was when putting the power down so not really an issue overall.
Any had experience of either or both, or any similar fork?
I think it would depend on the frame too. I've had Karate Monkey and currently have an ECR fork on my KM, though I think they're corrected for 80mm. The ECR has a slightly longer offset too, but no appreciable flex, even with QR.
Which one has the nicer paint?
The frame is a Pinnacle Ramin, which is designed for a 100mm fork
I've been running a Surly Ogre fork on my tandem and not noticed any disk rub. I've recently swapped it for a shorter fork, it's for sale if you are interested. Not sure what size it;s corrected for

The Salsa has nicer dropouts?
