You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm heading to the Ladybower area this weekend, and hoping to ride on Saturday. I've ridden some of the excellent Winhill stuff, but it's been a few years since I did an actual "loop". So, which of these 2 loops do you think would be best for funtimes & vistas, plus least busy??
I'll be on a normal bike, MrsReady on a Levo SL.
Snap!
This time with pics??

Bugger!
Second one would be my choice however Lockerbrook was in a right mess last time we rode it so you may have to go down to the Res on the path just before it.
Weather forcast is a bit of a mixture
Yes, unfortunately it’ll be very busy. Start just before sunrise to enjoy it more!
Providing you can park, it won't be too busy once you get 500m from any carpark.
The bank holiday crowds are typically short range bimblersÂ
1st one. Avoids Lockerbrook (disaster ruination) on the 2nd one and may be the quieter of the two. Maybe.
I had a ride from Hope to the reservoir on Tuesday. I've spent the last 15 years hoping to ride The Beast again, having enjoyed it so much in our 26" hardtail days and expecting a big chunky ebike would compensate for my age-induced decline.
Blimey! Has it got harder or what? Turned right at Hope Cross and after a few good bits of built trail arrived at a path which I recognised as the Beast but struggled to ride more than 20 metres without a dab. And my skilful, 16 years younger, mate didn't do much better either. So we struggled up Hagg Farm and looked for a nice way down to the reservoir. No, that's changed too.
And coming back the same way, so we enjoyed Hagg Farm descent (very good) we couldn't find a way back to Hope Cross without a lot of pushing. I'm sure I once rode most of the way up in my MK1 Soul.
I think I'm going to spend the next 15 years hoping not to have to ride it again, although someone is bound to tell me that the trail builders have given us a load of good stuff up and down that we were never more than 10 metres from, but just aren't on Strava.

If you were riding the beast, you were about 20 meters from a network of superb hand built trails, think everything is on Strava and pretty easy to find.

I've never rated The Beast; it's never had any flow, it's just a boulder field with some half-formed lines down / through it.Â
Sadly a lot of the trails in the Peak District are like that, half ruined with patchy "repair" work and gates all along them.
There's a load of stuff which, if given a proper trail centre-style surfacing, would be amazing. But quite honestly, I'd rather drive from the Peak District to Llandegla or Sherwood Pines or Dalby for a day's MTBing.
Echo the comments about starting *early*. Anything around Fairholmes in particular will be solid by 10am.
Ok, ok, maybe I'll be back. But this time with a bit of planning.
