All 10 speed.
Sunrace 11-42 cassette currently with 10speed xt mech, shifts fine
other bike needed new cassette (was 11-40 with an expander) and the zee mech is knackered so have bought sunrace 11-46 cassette and slx 11 speed mech. goat link currently fitted which could of course be reused if needed.
plan is 11-46 replaces the 11-42 (this is the fs bike) and the 11-42 from that bike replaces the 11-40 on the hardtail.
will I need to use the 11speed slx mech with the 11-46 or will the 10 speed xt be ok? Will it be ok but only with the goat link?
I know the answer is try it and see just trying to minimise faff time tonight which will be limited. Also not sure I have enough spare gear inners if I need to be swapping both mechs

11spd mech should be fine on the 11-46, as std.
I doubt the XT will be able to stretch to 11-46 though. With the goatlink it may be okay though.
Try the current XT/goatlink on the 11-46, and if it struggles whack the 11spd mech on. That's not much faff.
yeah that seems sensible will try it that way first and see what works with the 11-46

Shimano med cage 11sp mechs run fine out the box on 11-46 cassettes, they'll even work well on the SunRace 11-50 too!
