Hi hope you can help make my decision.
Im looking at a orbea mx24 trail in the sales at £239 or the or ea mx24 team at 305. Both very similar except trail has 7spd and other 9spd. My son is 9 not the tallest of 9 yr olds and i know ill prob have to replace bike in 3yrs. Do i spend the extra and get the 305 one or save and get cheaper?
You sure? The 2019 Trail has 10 speed and my daughters 2018 Team Disc has 9 so either that's a typo or an ancient page that probably isn't relevant anymore. If it is legit factor in how much it would cost to get a new drivetrain and possibly a wheel if it's not a cassette hub, probably more than the Team would cost. The Team will also have disc tabs for a possible future upgrade.
Looking at the hierarchy Trail is the better bike but I'd go for whichever one has the better spec. FWIW I paid similar for an ex-demo MX20 and she's 6, 3 years use out of that (possibly longer depending) is plenty and they are fantastic bikes. I saw an MX up the Golfie trails last weekend being ridden by a kid doing the King and Queen, pretty sure it was a 24 as it had no front mech and the standard top guide.
Maybe a typo on my behalf its the dirt im looking at which is 7 speed and the team has 9 speed

The team disc def has 10speed but not in my budget. The trail from various sites says 7speed and the team (no disc brakes) 9 speed
I picked up a blue specialized riprock 24 online for £330 last week from hargrove cycles if you are looking for something different...
Of the two definitely the Team, you can fling a cheap pair of discs on there later and it'll be sorted.
