The headset and cups are finished in my scott addict cx. Cups are all rusty too.

Its a regular headache (not tapered).

The width of the outside headtube is 50mm

The inside width of the headtube is 44mm

The depth the cups sit in are about 11mm

I think the bearings i have bought in the past are 45×45ish

Would this be the correct one? https://www.tredz.co.uk/.FSA-Orbit-Z-No-9-M-Cup-TH-Internal-Headset_17770.htm

FSA one is good. Headset standard also known as IS44 - should find quite a few available. Repack the new bearings with marine grease to make them last longer.

Thanks, the westbrook cycles link is the one I currently have. Although I don't need the brake hanger section. As these are still fine.

Will the one in my link fit?

What does the stack info mean?

It will, but available in 10-14 days from supplier on Tredz is a worry. I think it's fair to say you're not going to see it in 10-14 days.

Personally I've had excellent experience with superstar headsets. You'll need Type 2 top, and Type B bottom, all in stock.

Its all the bits that add height to the headset.

Your fork steerer needs to be long enough for headtube+stack+stem+any spacers. It will likely be fine unless you currently have no spacers.

IS44 is one of the slimmest headsets available - I doubt stack will be a problem - do you have spacers under your stem?

My tuppence would be to either get one with a seal on the crown race itself which keeps the muck off the bearing seal in the first place. Or get the cheapest one and make a note of the bearing size so you can just chuck a new lower one in every six months to a year if it gets notchy.

My CX bike (and SSCX although it has a different standard which further limits choice) has an integrated headset so there isn't much choice, you just put the bearings in the headtube and ride them, they last long enough that it's not worth worrying about whether a £60 set lasts longer than a £10 set, in reality, I doubt any component will outlast 11 cheap lower bearings (and one top one).

If its has cups its not IS44, but ZS44. IS44 is integrated bearings that fit straight into the frame, ZS44 is 44mm zero stack cups that press into the frame, the bearings then fit into the cups.

It defo has cups that press into the frame...then the bearings sit in the cups.

No spacers under the stem but it has the cantilever hanger spacer thing
