Hi All,
Another lost soul looking for advice!
To explain a little about my riding, it would be relaxed, family rides with the trailer, exercise rides on my own, nothing mega heavy trail wise. But would still like the ability to take on some fun downhill stuff.
Availability and size is my biggest issue. I am 6ft 5 and 18stone so needs to be a sturdy bike!
Everything seems to point towards an XC ish geo bike, happy to be proven wrong by someone who knows more than me.
I have £1500 to spend and have put an order in for one of these Canyon Grand Canyon 8
I have also been looking at the following.
As you can see a few different choices but there are so many at this price range to choose from.
I bought a GX groupset and SLX brakeset through my companies cycle scheme with the intention of building up from a frame. So I could also look at a cheaper bike and put the parts on to it and sell on the cheaper groupset. Or just sell on the GX groupset.
Like the idea of putting something together myself but when it gets down to it, with 2 kids might be easier to buy and ride!
Any other suggestions (assuming I can find my size) would be greatly appreciated. Or just some affirmation that the Canyon would be a good fit!
Thanks!
Sam
Some very different bikes there. The GT Zaskar LT is heavy, suspect 4-5lbs heavier than the Scott. The Scott is much more XC focused, great superlight carbon frame but average finishing kit.
Orange Clockwork Evo Comp in XL is prob the best all rounder.
The Grand Canyon is a good balance of spec and XL is decently large.
Merida big trail 600.
£1500. Bomber Z2. Deore 12 speed. Dropper. X3 bottle mounts.
Thanks Sync - I bottled the Evo as thought it was maybe a little too trail for me.
Glad I didn't go Zaskar then. I feel like the Canyon strikes a good balance between Spec and Price. Will have a look for another Evo in my size. Olly, I hadn't actually looked at Merida so ill check that out too!
