Hi,

I've crashed and shredded my waterproof jacket.

It's time for a new one. My last two gore tex ones have been ace. Last one was a pack lite, the current one has been a bit heavier weight with a silvery lining.

Looks like they don't make it any more so the closest replacements are

A c3 pack lite

Or a c5.

There is quite a difference in price. £100 vs £230.

What's the difference between the two and any recommendations for which one to go for?

It's for riding and wandering about. The last two waterproofs have lasted me 10 years.

Active Shell is much more breathable than Paclite

If you are buying gore shop around blacks and millets often stock certain products and 20% codes seem to be available frequently,

Best place for gore wear is amazon
That jacket is £166 in a large castor grey.

I’ve had tonnes of gore wear off amazon, a red and a blue active shell windstopper for £55-60, trail gloves for £9 (£39 on wiggle etc

I have the active version above (didn't pay that much though) can say that I've crashed in it a few times and it's still holding up. Have used it off the bike a few times as a raincoat. Would recommend

I think that's what my current jacket is made of. It's much less rustle prone and less waxy feeling than the previous pack lite one.

I'm going to go for the c5, in black now I just need to get to a shop and try it for size

Thanks all 🙂

I've got that C5 jacket, not worn it on the bike yet, but I went for a run in it at the weekend and it is the best breathing waterproof I've had and I've had a few. However, it's still noisy, if that botehrs you.

The C3 is a more of a neat fit and the C5 a bit on the looser side also the C5 has a chest pocket whereas there is no chest pocket on the C3.

I wanted the fit of the C3 but features of the C5. In the end I went for the C5. It's a teeny bit flappy  when up at speed.

Well, I've found a very orange Scott jacket for £50 so I'm going to give that a go.

Cheers 🙂
