You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Over the last few years of mountain biking I've started getting back into racing. I know that a lot of manufacturers don't cover any damage/faults caused if you choose to do so, and as I've always had secondhand frames then theres been no issue for me.
However, after buying a new frame and snapping it whilst racing when it was only 6 weeks old, makes me wonder which manufacturers cover racing their bikes/frames under their warranties?
The only one that I know of is Liteville, are there any others?
They all do if you don't tell them you are racing
I've never heard of a warranty specifically excluding racing. If your that bothered just do as Klunky says and don't tell them.
I think giant cover specific bikes for intended type of racing so if your racing a anthem on a wc dh course don't expect a new frame
Even if you don't tell them your racing, a quick google of your name, facebook and the Roots & Rains might tell them otherwise
tenacious - my warranty specifically excludes racing!
According to Giants warranty they also dont cover competitive use
Looks like Banshee is another manufacturer that do cover racing though link here
All a roots and rain search would show is that you have done races, not that you have done them on that bike or at the time the fault occurred. If it came to it, I think they'd be hard pushed to argue legally that a race was beyond the use for which they had designed the bikes for.
Oh, and your link is to a Giant Australia manual, the UK one I have to hand makes no such exclusions.
Neither Banshee, Transition or Yeti exclude racing.
Bikes are meant for racing 😀
Those that do exclude I wonder if they count strava..
Nicolai.
giant
Pact.
Bird too, I think.
Racing or ragging it at the weekend, what's the difference? Having a number on the front doesn't add extra stress to the bike (maybe to the rider)
Looks like Trek do: http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/support/warranty/
Hope so as racing tonight on my new Superfly 🙂
