Up to £50, superstar nano are top of the list atm. The cheaper version they do are too ugly. What's the benefit of thru-pins?

Thanks

The heads on through pins dont get worn, making life easier on removal of the pins. Had my through pins a year now and they are great pedals, never touched them at all and still smooth

Selling my white (and raw alu where paint has flaked off) thru pin nanos if you're interested in secondhand.

£22.50 posted.

Exotic Carbon Cycles do the same Nano pedals - in black only - for £10 cheaper than SSC.

Think both are really good.

Thru-pin Nanos are great. Mine have just done their second season of alpine guiding, still nice and smooth. Loads of grip and look good, not much not too like!

Too small and tall means they rool over under foot. Not much grip either. Try some moderns ones if you havent already.

If you've got the money get Burgtechs, they're bloomin amazing! Tried other brands/pedals an they're better by a country mile.

Not tried them yet but DMR vaults get good reviews, similar size to the burgtechs and half the price.

burgtecs are ace, got a set on my jump bike at the moment. they are bloody massive though, bigger than vaults, flatboys etc. may be too big if your feet are small. plus they are way out your price range.

those nukeproof plastic ones with the metal pins look good; slim design, similar weight to my point1's and about a third of the price!

it's swings and roundabouts (and often down to nothing more than luck) whether you'll get on better with thru pins or grub screws. if you bend a thru-pin (bolt) it can often be difficult to remove it without wrecking the pin threads in the actual pedal body. but often a good hit to either type of pin will take the soft alloy threads out on most pedals anyway.
I hit/ground pedals a hell of a lot and personally much prefer grub screws.

Had a pair of Vaults before the bike got nicked, and they are a good size, good grip, quite pricey though.

Have some Crampons too, which were great until they started squeaking against my 5:10s on every revolution. Unbelievably annoying!

Get the thru-pins you big girl. Don't bother with a fancy colour though as it just wears off under foot and over rock.

badgerface - obviously I'll want them in fancy colours.

The thru pin ones are a wierd shape too so I'll prob go for the exotic nanos, though I can see the black disappearing pretty quick. Thanks chaps.

Nothing terribly wrong with DMR other than the price, for what's a very ordinary pedal that doesn't really beat the competition at anything.

Nanos are good options- decent value (shop around- Ready To Ride are cheaper than Superstar just now, so are Exotic but have a limited range). Reasonably strong, quite thin, decent sized, and reliable. Magnesium one loses pins quite easily (don't put longer pins in them!)

Wellgo's MG1 is another good one- it's a much better DMR V12, from the same factory, for half as much. Grippy but soft and a bit thick too, not for persistant rocksmackers I reckon.

What GW said. But also, thru-pin pedals tend to be either heavier, or weaker, since you need to remove more metal for the pin design that either leaves weakspots or needs more support.

on-off slim.

very impressed with grip and longevity...

used the GF's bike the other day and she has my old MAG1s, which i thought were good, but they don't compare to the On-Offs. she wants a set too now.
