For light trail, South Downs use. Preferably 30 internal. Aluminium. 29. Lightish.

XM481

Widest XC rim is 25mm internal - XR391

Yep, XM481s will give strength for minimal weight penalty, think they're the lightest 30mm internal DT do.

I can't evidence the point but I think my XM481s seem plenty strong too, compared with previous rims. I'm pleased with them.

Brilliant rims as long as you buy the right rim for your riding. Really can’t comprehend buying carbon rims over top end alloy DT rims - they don’t offer nearly enough for the price difference, and many are inferior in some ways - especially durability. Shame that EX1501s went carbon for same reason.

Ditto XM481 here too. Found them really easy to build too with the clever torx head nipples and they were arrow straight with minimal faff - a good sign for the future I thought.
