Ey up,

I fancy a DH bike, but I dont know which. Don't want to spend a lot so 2 grand is roughly the budget.

I though either the Canyon Sender 6 or 2019 Saracen Myst AL

forks and shocks wise, does any one know how they compare?

Which one should I buy?

Second hand Santa Cruz v10 carbon. In fact my son may sell his one. Awesome bit of kit.

I just sold mine. Wish I hadn't.  Go secondhand, ideally not from a pinner

I love DH bikes but I haven't had one for a few years. Never ridden a Sender but it gets excellent reviews and they look mint. No idea about the Saracen.

The last one I had was a 2013 YT Tues and I'd have a newer one without hesitation. Such a nice bike.

For 2 grand I'd be looking at used bikes. They're the kind of thing people buy because they look fun and then they never use them as it's quite hard work. Try to get one like that because if you use them regularly for their intended purpose they get thrashed.

If you're buying new I'd definitely look at YT and maybe a Commencal Furious.

Do you have a plan for where you're going to ride it and how often? Lack of opportunities to use it properly is why I reluctantly sold up. I love riding DH more than anything but I live in the middle of England and anything really exciting is usually an annual occurrence.

Saracen had some sample/show bikes on sale, via Freewheel IIRC. Worth a look.

Id Look to build one up from used parts if you can be arsed. People who try out DH but don't thrash it (as shark attack says) will often split the bike up and sell frame separately so they can put their 27.5 bits towards a new more sensible bike build.

I have a 2016 Tues and love it, however, if I was replacing it I’d probably be looking at a Trek Session. Finding a good one for 2k might be tricky though.

Keep meaning to sell my 2016 Tues as it's not getting used and is just taking up room in the garage.

Its a shame cos I love it but it's the only bike I own that hasn't been ridden in lockdown and I can't justify keeping it.
