Going to leave the dark ages and bring my remaining bike in to the world of 1x.

It has a BB92 bottom bracket. The current Crankset is SRAM GXP. It's non boost.

Will any crankset with a 24mm spindle work?

My screw thread BB on the other bike is 73mm. are the cranksets for both the same width?

Sorry for the dumb questions.

GXP c/set will fit BB92. You need a pressfit BB92 GXP BB

If you want to fit a different c/set then you'll need a different BB.

You don't say what the c/set is on the 'other' bike, so it could be Shimano or GXP...

If you can be a bit clearer on what c/set you want to fit to what frame, then we can answer.

The crankset on the other bike is a Shimano XT M8000 fitted to a 73mm screwthread BB.

The bike for which I require a new crankset is an On-One Race29 (same as the Lurcher essentially).

I'd probably stick to a 24mm BB with that BB so you get bearings that aren't unfeasibly small. Making that choice a while back I think it can down to Shimano slx/xt or race Face aeffect. The deciding factors were if.you could get a small enough chainring on the Shimano and cost. I could and the Shimano was cheaper, so that's what I have.

I think just about anything else was fair bit heavier.

I have an Aeffect. Quite like it...I'll likely go for the same again. The Shimano ring seems to sufffer from a little bit of chainsuck!

I'm not using the Shimano ring- works components oval comes highly recommended. Lasts for aaaaages. I can normally get a narrow wide fitted in ~march worn to the pint where it's dropping chains by August (two years on the trot I kept dropping chains at the Brighton big dog, that's how I know) but the current works one is going to be two years old in march. Admittedly, the entire drivetrain is utterly knackered but it's still hanging on to the chain

Can you just fit a normal gxp crank? If so I’d look for a gxp sram nx eagle crank or a truvativ stylo / descendent gxp crank. All generally have direct mount chainrings hat retrain he chain really well. I honk I found my stylo gxp crank on eBay for £60 with a 32t alloy chainring in it (light - butnid prefer the steel ones as they last forever).

I assume I can fit a normal GXP crank...as that is what's there at the moment. I just need a 1x version and then don't have to change the BB to a Shimano specific one.

Not me selling - this could work? Buy a direct mount steel sram chainring for under £20 from somewhere like Tredz.

Or these - although you’d need to check boost / non boost

@Mccraque does you crank have a removable spider? Does it have 3 bolts holding it onto a splined interface or are the spider and crank arm one piece?

If it is removable then you can fit a DM ring or boost spider and ring... and just as an aside I have one of those going spare. PM me if interested.
