Thanks Tony.
Is that not for bottom only? Don't I need a top and btm for single ring on front?
Regards
Richard

I've seen one with a Gamut P30... How well it worked, I don't know, I was a wee bit surprised it fit tbh given how the Blood's packaged.

Jam Bo is this not a top only version? Don't I need top and btm, as per my other posting? Somebody? NW I agree thats the issue I've got with the MRP and the Gamut versions I've got - the chainstay seems to foul on the device?

Superstar plasma fits nicely to my blood, a little noisy, but fits well.

Richard, as you know the bb mounted stinger fits properly, but as you point out its a bottom guide only. I do recall seeing a truvativ box guide fitted to one:

I run a Superstar on mine and has worked perfectly for two years. Swapping parts around bikes and about to try an MRP Lopes on the Blood which is much smaller and quieter tomorrow. Will let you know.

I've used a Gamut P30 and an e13 LG1+ on my Blood, both very good and I've had no problems with either.

I use an MRP Mini G2 SL on mine and it works perfect. No problems with swingarm clearance or anything like that. You don't notice it's there which in my mind is how a chain device should be 😀

Well fitted a superstar one and its ok, just really noisy in the higher gears adjust it to reduce the noise and chain drops off, so I 'm not convinced its the right solution.

Which year Blood have you got? I think the BB shell dropped from 83mm in the 2009 models to 73mm from 2010 onwards.

I've got the 83mm BB frame and have tried a E-Thirteen DRS and E-Thirteen Heim. Settled on a Blackspire Stinger.

I had to space the Stinger with some washers to prevent the chain dropping & jamming in the gap between the granny and the backplate which means there's some chainrub on the backplate when I'm in the granny/smallest cog combination, but it's pretty minimal.

Digby, thanks you are right, I have the 2010 frame so a smaller BB but running a single front 36T ring so need a different type of chain device I think. The stinger is for doubles as it has only a btm guide? I need top and btm.
I can file the top guide out a little to stop it catching in the larger cogs but this does not sit right really... bit of a bodge.

Apologies tricky, you're correct and the Stinger is just for doubles. What crankset have you got? Is there anyway you can move the drive-side inboard a bit more or have you exhausted all of these options?

If you can't tweak the chainline/interference with the backplate, then I'd be tempted to file the top guide. It can't be any more of a bodge than my cable routing on my Blood!! 🙂

Could you not just run a top guide and a chunky singlespeed chainring and a clutched mech?

Much better now the file has been out! Still noisy but at least I feel like its improved. No dropped chain and gearchanging is smooth.
Thanks for all opinions and advice.

Couple of questions

Cable routing = ghost shifting? Anyone got some simple solutions to this?

Rear shock setup- My experience of Full Suss is limited so it may be my technique, but traction uphill on trails is a real struggle, any bike set up tips for me gratefully received.

Thanks

Richard

Ive just picked up a 2nd hand 2009 Orange Blood 17" very happy with it, a bit of an Orange fan-boy. ridden it a few times at trail centers standard, but its just too heavy! ive weighed it with rubber queens 2.4s front and back and its 34.2Lbs!!! which is too much. The max i think for pedaling a bike if your fit is 31-32lbs. thats my target.
ive sold the hope/ mavic EN321 wheels and swapped them for hope/ DT Swiss EX500 and am planning to convert them to tubeless that was supposed to save -140g but was more like -100g.
sram PG950 cassette has gone for a PG990 which has saved nearly -100g
removed the hussefelt stem for a orange stalk stem which saved -100g
changed the 200mm front disc for a 180mm which has saved -60g
removed the SLX front mech -155g
removed the X-7 front shifter and cable -170g
added the E 13 chain guide +55g
changed the raceface cranks and rings and bash for the saint arms and single ring -220g
changed the bell air for a 222g saddle saves -70g

so now including 350g pedals the bike weighs 32.25lbs (14.630kg) and feels a lot better for it!

No problems with ghost shifting since replacing the standard cable clips with loosely attached zip ties along the seat stay, and keeping the outer as short as possible, to allow the cable outer to move back and forth. I was more troubled by my rear hose kinking but I have alleviated this by leaving off the last cable clip beneath the toptube.

Nice looking bike runningrunningjump 😛

As above I swapped a Superstar for an MRP Lopes which is smaller and quieter. Lost the chain a couple of times at UK Bikepark which I had not at home. Clamped the top mech down tighter on the chainring and seems OK. I don't have problems with ghost shifting but don't use the last cable guide before it drops down to the swingarm because I thought that it put too much of a kink in it.
Top bike, my favourite ever and mine is 32 lbs.
