I thought I had the right ones, but then I started reading about specific post sizes and now my head has exploded. Would really appreciate if I could have a steer in the right direction.
I have a 2016 Revelation (FS-RVL-RC3-A3) on the front, so min size 180 rotor and I'm going to put a 180 rotor on it. I thought I needed a PM-PM180, something like SM-MA-F180P/P2 or SM-MA90-F180P/P but then I read a description that said "the 180 assumes it will be installed on 160mm post mounts to run a 180mm rotor" and I thought that because the fork has a minimum rotor of 180, it would have 180mm post mounts.
And whilst I'm hear, the rear is an IS and I'm going to put 160mm rotor so I am guessing SM-MA-R160P/S is the right one?
It's some older Deore brakes that are going on them if that makes a difference.
Any advice/correction/confirmation much appreciated!
Have a look on the hope website for the mount adapter spec sheet pdf and they have a bit on there with measurements for different mounts on the fork, that's how I figured out mine was a 160mm.
If I understand it correctly, you don't need an adapter on the front. The brake caliper should bolt straight on and match with a 180 mm rotor.
On the back, I think you need a 160 mm IS to post mount adapter. Like this, for example:

Your front mount doesn't need an adaptor, just bolt the caliper right on the fork and use with a 180mm rotor.
The rear adaptor you identified is correct
Thank you Thank you Thank you. That makes sense now. I was getting so confused by the front one, but the answer was that you don't need one!
Are there specific bolts for attaching the brake calliper to the brake adapter - are they m6x20 bolts usually?
are they m6x20 bolts usually?
That sounds about right.
Just be very careful with the front one. The fork material is pretty soft and easy to strip, especially if the bolt is too short. Make sure that there is 10 mm or more thread going into the fork, but also that the bolt doesn't bottom out in the hole. It's a good idea to thread it in by hand first without the caliper to see how far it goes without bottoming.
I thought that 2016 Rockshox had a PM160 mountings, my 2016 Pike certainly did. That would mean that you need an adaptor for the 180mm rotor.
The fork may specify 180mm rotors as a minimum, not because of the spec of the mounts, but because the physical position of them might cause the caliper to clash with the fork leg if mounted directly with a 160mm rotor.
I have a couple of Revelations, one's about 2012, the other's about 2018. They are both 180 mm post mount.
I'm having to resurrect this thread as I must have done something wrong! I thought that I didn't need an adapter between the calliper and post mount on the fork
So I have Deore M615 brakes that I'm trying to put on my 2016 Revelation (FS-RVL-RC3-A3). I've used a 180mm shimano rotor and yet the calliper won't sit on the direct mounts.
I'm thinking I do need some kind of adapter. Can someone please help me with identifying what I need?
Is it an international - A adapter like SM MA F180P/S or SM MA F180P/P2?? I'm really confused now.
The SRm website for your fork has the spec muddled up. But the slightly new A5 fork has a minimum rotor size of 160. Suggesting that the fork has 160 post mounts.
If you have a 180 rotor. You need this adapter. Click here CRC (the 160 to 180 version)
Your photo confirms this.
Go to the Hope support section, go to brakes and pull up the mount chart, it has key measurements that will help you determine your mount size.
I have 160mm rotors, but I went out and specifically purchased a 180mm one because of the spec sheet of the fork and didn’t want to risk under sizing the rotor - I even checked it with Rockshox facebook support, humph. I’ll change that over to the 160mm and see how it seats and report back!
Revs didn't change to 180mm post mount until they changed to 35mm stanchions with the 2018 onwards models.
So put a 160mm rotor and and it seats fine. Ruddy manual and RS information (even facebooked them to check I needed a 180mm rotor before buying it).
