Looking for something that'll do both wheel bearings and frame ones.

Wheels Manufacturing look good but you seem to need two kits to cover all the bases and it gets a bit spendy.

Is the Park one any good for wheels and frames? https://www.parktool.com/product/hub-bearing-press-set-hbp-1

Can you get extra 'press' bits for it if you have a size that's not covered?

Then buy the adaptors you need.

You can buy the Wheels handle and then the bits for each bearing you need as required.

The RRP kits are much better on frames as they can extract, again buy as you need. I have never used the RRP kit for hubs, only frames, I normally use the Wheels kit for hubs.

If you get the RRP one then a pair of brass washers make it so much nicer to use and stop the aluminium getting torn up.

Wwaswas,

I did all the bearings on my FS frame a couple of weeks ago using:

- blind bearing puller kit off Ebay (£30)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Inner-Bearing-Puller-Set-Remover-Slide-Hammer-Internal-Kit-8-32mm-9pc-Blind-Hole-/282461490709

-one of the RRP Bearing Kits (£18)

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/rapidracerproducts-bearing-kit/rp-prod57887

-my own homemade press tool (threaded axle, nuts and washers from B&Q - £3)

I could probably have managed without the RRP kit but it did help as it's specific to the bearing size so made the operation smoother. The only other tools I needed were spanners, a rubber mallet and a vice or workmate.

You're welcome to borrow any of these tools if you need them.

The bearings I removed and fitted were sizes 6900 and 6902.

I'm not sure whether this kit would do wheel bearings though.

Cheers Paceman - just thinking of getting the right tool for the job (you know me!) and treating it as a long term investment (and maybe do a £10 a time 'loan' scheme for local riders or something). I did think about doing another group buy like the Shockwiz but I'd quite like to actually own it 🙂
