I have used the LBS for every thing but punctures and cleaning my chain.
I am going to at least try to service my bikes myself.
So for bottom brackets ,wheel bearings ,brakes etc.
What tools and how much? Rather buy once.
I have the Big Blue Book and YouTube , what other reference works?
What should I not attempt?

I have the ice tools one and it's fine. Has all you need except a good set of cable cutters, a spoke key and a set of circlip pliers. Get a workstand too. Should be less than 100 all in and will save you loads over time.

What hubs? If hope you need the braces to support them while you "gently" tap the axle through...
