Hi all, i wanted some advice on two backpacks that thule came out with, but one of them is actually a sling bag, and wondered because it's smaller if while cycling it would still be usefull, because it has only one strap?

This is the first one
http://www.roofracks.co.uk/ThuleLuggageBags/Products/?productID=TCBP-117DB&productName=Crossover_25L_Laptop_Backpack_Dark_Blue&productRange=DaypacksAndMessengerBags#.UEcWiI1lTYg

and this is the second one
http://www.roofracks.co.uk/ThuleLuggageBags/Products/?productID=TCSP-213DB&productName=Crossover_17L_Sling_Pack_Dark_Blue&productRange=DaypacksAndMessengerBags#.UEcWm41lTYg

Any advice much appreciated!

I definitely wouldn't spend £70-£90 on a "normal" backpack. Seems to me Thule is just leveraging their brand here. Camelback/Danine hydro pack yes. My daughter just spend £20 on a nice backpack. If you really want a bike style cross strap there are others available for half the money. Anything used on the bike is going to get covered in cr@p anyway.

These are for posing, not riding . . .

Doesn't appear to be hydration compatibility, . . . and the wide strap of the sling one would be irritating when riding i'd imagine.

Have a look through THESE.
I really rate the Dakine bags. I've had a Nomad one for ages and recently got a bigger Apex model too. Great bags, great colours.
Look for something with a chest and waist strap to stop it bouncing about when you're getting sick air, and also hydration pack if thats what you're after.

Not sure if the 'slingbag' has any additional straps but from experience, riding with a bag with a single strap is a nightmare. As your weight is forwards it generally works its way around your body and hangs in the front. Not good.

I bought a Deuter Transalp 25 on a forum recommendation a couple of years ago. It's brilliant for all day riding and very bike optimised.
