Weighing up a couple of frames at the moment and the 456 Carbon is one of them.
I'm 5'10 and stuck between their 16" and 18" frame.
Anyone got any experience of either and what would you recommend?
5' 9" on an 18" with a 60mmm stem - fits a treat, but I do like a longish top tube.
I'm 5'10" and have a 18 456 and still have to have a LOT of seatpost out for proper pedalling height, the result is it feeling a little long in the TT, but I do have a 34 inside leg.. if you have shorter legs i reckon you could go for a 16.
18 with 50mm stem and 5.11. Feels a tad big for me in some regards, ie chucking about. Good as XC type bike. Really need a 17 inch 456. Really you are in between sizes and it depends what you want to do most on the bike. I'm thinking of swapping to a 16 but wonder if it will be too small for me.
I'm 5'8" on an 18" with a 70mm stem, inline post. If I'd realised the 16" was only 9mm shorter TT, I may have gone for that instead. 18" is fine though
I'm 5'9" and 16" was perfect for me. Got several mates at 5'10", they're all on 16" On Ones too.
5 10 and on a 16 "
IIRC there is not much difference in top tube length between them.
5'10 with 33" inseam here. I didn't quite get on size wise with my 18" 456 so am planning on getting a 16" EVO. I've done the measuring and know that minimum insertion won't be a problem for me. If you've got even longer legs you might get awfully close though. Then again, that means you have a short torso which will mean that you're even less likely to get on with the ETT length of a 18"...
edit: Oh yeah, since the 456C uses the "classic" 456 geometry there's just 9mm difference in ETT length between 16" and 18". Good call.
Check the specs on the web site where it shows the geometry and compare these to something you know fits.
Reach is important. Main thing I found is the top tube length on the C456 is long. I ended up with the small 16" and still it's longer than my medium 18" Nomad!
Obviously you can tweak things with stem, bar, seat and crank choices. Some say go a little smaller than too big if unsure.
5'10,16" here 410mm post and a 70mm stem
I'm 5'10 and started out with an 18" 456' then bought a 16" for my wife and found that I preferred it!
16
I had a 16" with a 70mm stem and I'm five ten
5' 9" here on a 16"
I'm 5' 10" on a 18" with a too long 80mm stem and in line post....wished I'd gone 16" for more flickability... ( Still love it though)
5'10 on a medium, I reckon I could get away with a 16 but the 18 is a better fit all round
(on Brant's advice I bought a 16 inch Scandal, didn't fit. And a small Mmmbop, that didn't fit either)
5'10 on a 16 here. Thing is the TT lengths dont seem to change much - just the seattube. So I've got shortish legs (31" in M&S trousers) and a 125 reverb just fits on mine - maybe 1" between the frame and the reverb collar. It wouldnt fit for me at all on at 18".
#Edit - oh and overall a great bargain bike!
5 10 and the 18" here. As someone pointed out above the TT length isn't much longer but the seat tube length is. Depends how long your legs are and if you are happy running a really long post.
My 18" Ti456 would fit you lovely! EMail in profile.
Orginal flame etched design - email in profile.
Whereabouts are you? Somebody must have a 16" you can try, there's thousands of the buggers out there!
I'm under 5'8" 32" leg and run a 16" with 50mm stem.
I'm up Halifax way and nearly headed down to Rotherham to the showroom anyway yesterday.
Might try and get a visit in this week to go try one out.
Unless anyone on here has one laying about in the Halifax area - a proper ride would be preferred as opposed to just sitting on one in their shop.
