I had a Salsa El Mariachi previosuly and loved it but decided I would like something a little slacker so bought a Stanton Sherpa, foolishly I bought a large and realistically its too big and I need to move the frame on.

So I am after a 29er hardtail frame approx 120mm fork option, preferably a little more budget friendly than the Stanton as I can't quite justify £700 on a frame currently 🙁

Im open to steel or ali

Has anyone ridden a Ragley Big AL ??

Love my Bird Zero, I have 130mm Revs on mine and wouldn't want shorter than that due to the relatively low BB.

I've a 2nd gen Cotic Solaris that is sitting in the garage going unused... it's a large, sizing chart at https://www.cotic.co.uk/product/solaris#sizing.

(also I'd say their sizing is a little keen, I'm 5'11" and the large is perfect)

Paul’s Cycles have some 29” Orange P7 frames at a decent price if you can be flexible with fork travel.

I hadn’t even thought of a P7, that looks just the ticket. 👍👍

I was just about to buy a Solaris and hadn't even thought about a P7 but that price is very attractive. Would there be much difference between the 525 and 853 tubing?
Presumably the 525 would be heavier?

my hardtail is currently an Octane One prone 29er - currently at chainreaction cycles.

For the price i am very impressed, nice and slack, climbs well, currently running mine with 130mm forks.

What about an On-One Big Dog, I'm impressed with mine and for the money you really can't go wrong.

Hey Redben,

Could you supply more info on Sherpa you selling? Could be interested in frame only.

Cheers
Mike

Cotic salaries max long shot. Best frame I have ever ever ever bought.

Cotic salaries max long shot.

Is that an autocorrect, or a carefully worded jab at Cotic's pricing?

I'm seconding the Solaris Longshot - only £50 under (I'm sure I paid less than that) but it's the best hardtail I've owned in 30 years. It's lovely on XC, bike parks, just riding towpaths .. going to try some 2.6 tyres on 650b wheels this year for getting them off the ground a bit. Love it.

Simply awesome on the trails and back end flexes over the rough stuff which is nice ,and point it down hill that's another story

I am utterly biased, but my longshot SolarisMAX is the best hardtail I’ve ever ridden, by quite some margin. They’ve been around just about long enough for some second hand bargains to pop up I would have thought, if budget tight.
