You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Planned on riding Cadir Idris then a lap of CYB. Set off as you do CI, but turned round 3/4 the way up as it was blooming windy. Would've been silly to have pressed on up to the Trigg, so opted for the safer choice of cutting it short. Still had fun on the way back down and more than a couple of sketchy moments.
CYB car park was rammed but didn't see that many out, 1x group of about 12, couple of couples and a coulee of solos. Had a giggle there as always, trails were riding nice and kept you out of the wind.
Stopped on the way back at the Rhug cafe near Corwen for a brew and bap, now happily chilling filled up with Pizza and a few beers, watching Prometheus
Half pished
Carlos
into leeds on my crutches, first time out of the house in 6 weeks.
rock n roll eh........... 😆
Work, surrounded by bikes but only able to ride one too & from work. Out with the NWALPSCC crew tomorrow though
Abergavenny, Pokémon hunting with a 10 y-o.
Expected tedium and cross words, but was actually a surprisingly pleasant day, in which we chatted about all sorts of good stuff. I enjoyed my day!
Macc forest. Rode 10 miles, realised I'd lost my keys, retraced my tracks, still didn't find them.....
Think I must win the muppet of the weekend prize!
Into work for 4 hours this afternoon, stymied by ProjectWise issues, then a cheeky half, asparagus risotto and a rather good Bandol rosé.
Work. Watching prisoners & their visitors (inc squawking bloody brats) both AM & PM.
Same tomorrow. 👿
i went up the top of Hay Bluff, then turned back round. 700 ft of climbing and 2,9 miles, so a very short ride, but a fun descent. i think the antibiotics im on are effecting me as i have been feeling rubbish all day.
sorry, double post.
Did a loop on the South Downs with singletrackmind. Beautiful day, gorgeous hills, stupid Garmin, nettle tingles and aching muscles. Love it. Mountain biking is brilllliliaant!
To the motor factors to buy new brake calipers for my car as one of the rears had seized on. Then wasting the day changing them and bleeding them (never done it before, so it was a learning process).
Why do people like to work on cars? Messy, cold and a waste of time.
Tomorrow will be Scolty Hill in Aberdeenshire.
Sitting in my house for the vast majority, seems I can't ride 2 days in a row anymore so hopefully be able to tomorrow!
My only foray out was for hangover McDonalds.
Tour of the Isle of Wight.
Fish and chips on the beach in Ventnor, a glass of Adgestone red at the vineyard and some IoW ice cream to end. Brilliant day out.
Round the local woods, walking my dog. Did a lumpy (for round here) 50km on the singlespeed last night, so my legs didn't really feel like riding today.
I done go been to work. On my way home now, an hour and 20 late as my taxi didn't turn up to take me from the depot to the train station so I missed me train. Yay. You weren't specifically asking where we'd been on bikes, were you? Haven't been anywhere on mine for ages.
Long Mynd. Front brake died up on top - had to ride down Carding Mill valley with just a rear. fun.
Got dropped off at the start of 'kill me thrill me', rode that then rode on to a trail called 'out there'. Then a road slog back to the lodge, all in whistler btw!
Our sportive trying to raise funds for a pumptrack. 50 miles most of the climbing into a horrible headwind. At one point I was working hard and managing 8mph.
Nice one Ton! The first steps are the hardest.
Went for a wander over the over side of the valley to investigate a little network of bridleways I'd not been on before. Nothing technical but a few potential bivy spots.
Will probably head up to watch the Three Peaks race today.
Biggish ride round cut gate and WLT, wee bit of a headwind on the way back! Finished off with beers and a lovely burger from Solita.
Did the BHF London-Brighton Off-road yesterday, just over 7 hrs and my legs are definitely on strike to go riding today 😆

Long Mynd.
Us too. Headwind on the top was huge.
I was in the land of nod and now I'm in the land of work. The difference is about 10 miles and 90 degrees. Oh and my eyes are now open.
Went up my local trail to clear some trees. Put my back out big time moving a branch.
Had to crawl back to my bike. Was thinking about calling someone to come & get me when some other riders came along & helped me up. Managed to walk my bike home.
Thankfully you can still get a doctor to do a home visit on a sunday afternoon, no painful trip to A&E. My wife had to get her brother to take her to the chemist for me.
Now facing a few uncomfortable days at home all because I tried to fix some trails.
Big southerly wind equals Skipton to Kirkby Stephen one way using bits of the Pennine Bridleway and anything vertical on the map!
Poor train though - nasty headwind all the way back...
mate bailed on a MTB ride so took the road bike out for a spin

Planned 60km, ended up with 110km, who needs a plan

Cake was a lot more use than a plan...

Nice going Mike! Always good to have the time to increase the distance. Cake well deserved!
Rode 15 miles in my kitchen - given my current state I'm chuffed with that!
Strava central both today and yesterday. 🙄
Under the shed building my Rockhopper up, still need to fit cranks, chain, brakes and bars but I'm waiting for a stem and rotor to arrive before I can finish it off.
well I was in bed until the wife came in & rudely whipped the duvet off me declaring since she was up 3 times in the night feeding the baby there was no ducking way I was getting a lie in!
Just off up the woods for an hour or two of plummet & winch tech fest 🙂
Today I done my first road event, The Tommy Godwin Challenge, 100km around Warwickshire and Worcestershire and back to Solihull. All very pleasant and well organised but I don't think I'm a lover of road riding.
Fod was riding great today , sunshine and showers with plenty of grip on surprisingly dryish trails .
CXer training today, 80k of long intervals in the very windy South Coast.
Should have gone windsurfing 😐
40 k of the finest Black Forest single trail, sluchsee and titesee, there was cake, sausage, a schnapps museum and beer
8th birthday party today. Yesterday was 100k - Plymouth to Exeter across Dartmoor. Top day out.
Tough Mudder !
50km around East Devon on my new Genesis Vagabond. Very enjoyable ride 🙂 apart from
a) Getting soaked in a sudden downpour.
b) inadvertently straying onto an XC race course on Woodbury Common, and being shouted at by a Marshall for going the 'wrong way'. He looked confused when I explained wasn't taking part in the race, and queried why they were sending riders up what is a long established downhill track!
Woke up feeling knackered so didn't ride over to the 3 Peaks CX but decided to drive over and do a quick loop to include a bridleway I'd not been on. Got caught in a big shower near the end then wheel sucked on the back of a couple of roadies (they were decent about it, especially since I was on my B+ tyres!). Watched a few of the riders come through at Ribblehead, plus all the stupid drivers ("effing impatient idiots" according to the woman at the Tea van!).
@jruk - a 100K ride is a good effort for an 8yr old 😆
After the rain this morning turned into a lovely day for 120km on the road bike down to Box Hill and back from west London, via a few other minor inclines in the area. Even beat my brother to the top of the hill for the first time. Although his hangover might have had something to do with that...
Freiburg Canadian trail this morning, beautiful blue skies, cable car to the top for breakfast, then back down some pretty fantastic dusty trails, couldn't have been better.
Every body stayed upright, sort of, then a cold beer by the Driesam river on the way home.
Perfect.
Porlock Toll Road Hill Climb, embarrassingly slow. 😳
Lustleigh today- brilliant as ever
Where I've been isn't important (out and about with the Binnerettes), What is important is that before I went out I put lamb shanks, a bottle of red and a load of onions, garlic and Rosemary in the slow cooker.
The smell I've just walked back in too would have even Junkyard casually discarding his vegetarianism 😀
Just finished 3 day descent of the river Spey, by open canoe, wild camping on the river, with LD of this parish. Sun, no rain, shorts for three days - and it's nearly October. Absolute belter of a trip.... Pics to follow. 8)
Did a 53 mile road bike ride round the Essex lanes - my first half century ride for a few years. Pretty breezy in places!
Took daughters to their first crit race. Picked eldest daughter off floor after crash on second lap and made her get back on her bike....
Followed up by the kids having a blether with Graeme Obree, which was rather cool. They didn't have s clue who he was at the time....

Matt_outandabout. That sounds great!
Hamsterly forest with the junior Wooksters and The Mrs. Very nice little pootle!!
Glentress on the "tourist trails" for the first time in a long time. Actually great fun, except for.... Those guys sprinting up the first climb a sit if it's race and shouting people out the way accordingly. If this is Strava, I'm falling out with it.
Hamsterley too with Mrs gra. Short but very enjoyable half the red loop.
Did the Wiltshire Air Ambulance sportive - entered the 100 miles of road with a merry group of three other riders from my lbs group rides. Normally I potter around at 15mph, but this was 20mph+ on the rivet and chewing stem for the first fifty followed by a spectacular bonk then pealed off and went home to the pub for beer and pizza. Happy enough with 80 miles on a very windy day.
In work today.
Road ride over to
the cafe in Barley via Barrowford and Downham tomorrow.
Got to have an ice cream and a mooch round the churchyard at
Downham, it's the law.
Then Barley for lunch.
Unless it's lagging it down, in which case I'll stay in bed.
Chummed the Mrs to the Inverness Marathon/10k this morning and had a wee spin up to Ryvoan on the Amazon after removing the mudguards and fitting knobblies.

Entered MSG rnd9 at Langdon Hills but Dartford Tunnel was half closed and would have got there after race start so went straight on to Hadleigh Park instead. Enjoyed it, and was nice and quiet with only a handful of people there.

130k with Swansea CTC. Out to Ferryside via sustrans and back lanes - nice bracing coastal ride.
Cardiff running in Survival of the Fittest. Great fun!
Fernie.
Just getting into running so done a gentle 10k to see if I could (I say 10k but Strava says 5.9 miles dammit, so mot quite!), then off to rehearsals then into town for a drink with Mrs Pondo. A good day. 🙂
Me and my other half went to the Quantocks for the first time (shameful really considering it's only a 45 minute drive away) and stayed at The Blue Ball in Triscombe..
The accommodation was wonderful and we were treated like we were guests in Ian's home with a cooked breakfast in his own kitchen every morning, our wish was his command..
With the Blue Ball being a restaurant, there was little in the way of pub grub on offer so the food was a little pricey but really good, and as paying guests he had no problem rustling us up chips and beer out of hours..
The riding was obviously top class, and Mlle yunki's confidence came on in leaps and bounds during the first day where we rode for 7 hours..
We did the ridge ride and Holford Combe (wow) but then made a bit of an error in taking the greenway trail around the north edge thinking that it would be fairly gentle (it wasn't) before climbing back up onto the ridge by the deer park and bombing along the top back to Triscombe
The next morning we drove over to Selworthy and rode up through the woods from the church to Selworthy Beacon, before heading left to ride the cheeky trail down to Allerford for that immense view and obligatory iconic Exmoor photo opportunity..
Sat on the high exposed singletrack looking out over Porlock, watching kestrels and buzzards hunting below us was a breathtaking treat
On the final day we drove up onto the ridge for a final meander over the tracks on the top of the Quantocks
Mlle yunki is hooked and is now looking forward to battering the NHS cycle to work scheme for a decent bike and is already scheduling regular rides to fill the autumn with... Full of win!! 🙂
We nipped up to Woodbury Common on Sunday to keep the momentum going and like Ajantom, we got caught in the only (torrential) downpour of an otherwise beautifully sunny day
Must have done all of 8 miles on the Beamish Oddsox easy ride but that was great because it was my first mtb ride since I broke my shoulder. We had a barbie after.
We nipped up to Woodbury Common on Sunday to keep the momentum going and like Ajantom, we got caught in the only (torrential) downpour of an otherwise beautifully sunny day
It was heavy wasn't it!
Was that you in a small group, one whom was on a Foes?
naaah, just me and mrs yunki... We got blimmin' soaked!!
Soul and a GT
I was the fella cowering under a very insubstantial bush 😳
