I'm hoping to do a long weekend riding next month, can anyone suggest a good place to stay? Obviously needs to be bike friendly, and ideally cheap.

I'd also like recommendations for where to ride, I've visited before but not with a bike and I don't know the area well. I'd be looking for loops with nice scenery more than steep descents.

I’ve stayed at the youth hostel in Edale before. Cheap as chips, used to people with bikes and tonnes of riding near by. Worth a look.

Ladybower Inn. Good food and ride from the door

both edale and haversage have great YHAs.. if you can handle basic.

the latter has shops (alpkit is there!) and great open-air swimming pool on the doorstep.

edale is more remote (nearest shops are in Hope)

Yup I've also stayed at the Edale yha and found it good if a little full of teenagers. There's another one in Castleton, either would be good for riding from the door. If you ask nicely when you book in if it's busy and if not can they can stick you in a private room? They're usually friendly. You do meet some right characters in YHAs though and that's part of the appeal for me. Saying all that it's only just a wee bit more to get a nice bnb for yourself with a private room, your own bathroom and decent wifi.

For routes you've got classic ladybower loop and Jacobs Ladder. Just ask if you want gpx!

We had a pleasant stay at Thorndene b&b. Don't remember the price but worth it as I'm old enough to appreciate some space and peace & quiet so not a fan of YHA or camping.

Thanks for the suggestions, Edale YHA looks perfect - and is actually available to book. Hope it still is once I've confirmed the dates with work, surprised how busy it seems to be in October.
