Not the lakes, as we go there regularly, I've never ridden in the howgills, remember seeing recommended rides around sedbergh IIRC, but completely open to suggestions. Not much more than 3 hours riding tops please, and not too far off the driving route either - we can either go the A65 or A66.

Cheers.

Not Gisburn, been there before and prefer natural. Is Greno and wharncliffe not just DH stuff within Sheffield?

Wasn't there a route in the mag about a year back starting from Tebay Services. Or am I making that up?

There is some good stuff in Wharncliffe if you know your way around.

What about parking at Langsett and going up over Cutgate to Ladybower and back

We're going down for a weekends riding with friends, and I suspect Ladybower may be on their list, so that's out. There was a route at tebay, but it didn't look great IIRC.

Calf/Bowderdale can be done from Tebay/Ravenstonedale or Sedburgh.
There is also Crossfell
Something out of Reeth? Dales Bike Centre based.
Good rides out of Dent/Hawes
Hope is not far from Sheffield, done a few rides out of there.

All depends on what route to Sheffield you intend taking?

Would depend on where we wanted to ride John, could go a few ways.

If you go A1 via Richmond it's easy enough to divert down to Reeth or Hawes and ride some good moorland trails. Dales Bike Centre for cafe, bike stuff and advice on routes.

Been a few times, good set up.

Slightly round about way to get there would be down the A65 via http://www.escapebikeshop.com
Contact them for routes.

Howgills routes are worth a shot, or Dales Bike Centre.

Personally, I'd be looking at Western Peak if you're thinking Eastern Peak later on (mainly so you don't need to travel far after riding).

Keilder doesn't appeal, and is a bit far out the way, I've ridden out of Dales bike centre John, at the enduro last year, so fancy somewhere else. I'll keep looking, bet we end up in the lakes again...

Just a thought, Lee Quarry worth a play?.
