I've got a window of opportunity to ride somewhere different for a couple of hours tomorrow as close as possible to the above.

As far north as Sheffield, as far south as Guilford.

I've done a massive ride this morning so looking for maybe fun forest trails rather than an epic all dayer.

Suggestions please!! Easy navigation as I have diddly squat prep for this...

That's a big area but at the Northern end Wharncliffe/Greno is only 10 minutes from J36 of the M1

Should have added - i live in Sheffield, so anything further south.

I agree though - great place to ride 🙂

Surrey hills if you wanted a 10-15mile loop with lots of trails and singletrack. Wharncliffe if you want DH tracks.

Aston Hill would be a slight diversion. Ditto Sherwood Pines. The XC loop at Aston won't amuse you for 2 hours, and Pines is flat.

I'd say Wharncliffe is probably harder to string a loop together on, and without a guide probably harder to find the track(s) you'd want. i.e. Do you want jumps, drops, fast and open or steep and slow, muddy, rocky etc. There's a bit of everything but just picking the first one you see on trail forks might be a disappointment. Whereas Surrey Hills is a bit more what you see is what you get (a lot of it is like Warncliffe, but a lot more of it and spread out. But there's also a lot more red-ish-blue trail center level stuff, but without the armoring.

Which end is home? No point in riding Surrey Hills if you live in Guildford and no point riding Warncliffe if you live in Sheffield!

[edit] crossed post with your reply.

Definitely Surrey Hills then.

If you are travelling down that far then id hit up Surrey Hills

Peaslake is only 8 miles/20 mins from Guildford

Lots of fun trails, nice and close to each other, will be lots of riders around so finding the trails will be easy enough

Hit up Barry knows Best, Youghart pots, Wet N Wild and Crackpipe on Holmbury hill then as you come off Barry Knows best head up on to Pitch hill for John the Baptist, the T trails, EL Captain, Supernova etc...

the trails are all on Trailforks and even show up under their names on my Garmin
