So Hoppy jr is really loving his new bike and getting on great with it, it's a 24" cube and most of it is good but the suntour forks on it are a bit cack. They're a bit old and very stictiony as he weighs less than nothing it either means the forks have so little pressure they collapse or they're way too stiff.

I thought about getting some 2nd hand 26" Sid 80mms but there appears to be very little about, where are people selling stuff nowadays or are they just sat in garages?

All the good ones have probably been bought up by the dad crowd already.
Also add to your search list
Magura durin
Manitou r7
Fox f80 (f series was a lighter lower casting and thinner stanction)
Or the uber light fork, DT Swiss xrc80

Yeah that's what I feared.

Anyone know if it's possible/easy to reduce travel on Sid's? There are plenty of 100mms about.

If it's the same solo air setup as a 32mm pike, should be as easy as banging in a couple of clip on spacers to the air shaft. Check out Youtube - there's sure to be a vid about it on there

26inch sids were incredibly easy to change travel.

You literally moved a spacer from one side to the other ...

I have a set -but If I sold them to you it would make my carbon race machine no longer functional .......

Old marzocchi? Some 80 or 100mm air. There is some marzocchi z5s 80mm on ebay at the moment, which would be suitable

I have a set. They lost pressure and I don't have the screw in adaptor thingy to pump them up to be 100% sure they are working... in black with v brake mounts (disk too) if that helps date them? PM me if you'd like some pics as I can't see me needing them any time soon. I also have a set of Manitou somethings 80mm, will dig those out too?

I have a good condition 26" SID with maxle. Black, no faults. Been in a box for a few years since I stopped using them.

I've fitted 26in RS Forks to my son's 24in Hotrock.
From memory they are dual air SID's. To reduce the travel down I just put more air in the top chamber and the fork sliders got drawn down into the stantions therefore reducing the travel and axle/crown length.
