I have some nice Singular Hummingbird forks that I'd like to get sprayed to match my frame. I've no idea where to get this done at reasonable cost -- they cost under £100 so anymore than £20 to have them sprayed begins to sound not-worth-it.
Any suggestions for where to go in/near Leeds?
Thanks
Bob Jackson if you want them sprayed or Triple-S in Bingley for powder coating always get highly recommended.
Don’t use Triple S for powder. They do an ok finish (I have used them) but they are very expensive and only have very limited colours.
I have had quite a few bike things done by LSN in Castleford - old school powder coating done to an amazing standard, they mask everything off well as they are used to bikes and are very very cheap too. The finish they acheive is amazing. Everyone in Yorkshire on Retrobike uses them, I travel from Huddersfield to drop things off with them.
Another vote for LSN
Yeah LSN are meant to be good. As are Midas Touch also in Castleford.
I think you'd be very lucky to get a halfway decent job with a colcol match done for 20 quid I'm afraid. 🙁
For a £20 quid job have a look at CAS Coatings on Victoria Road in Eccleshill (up from Apperley Bridge)
Ive used em twice - they were pretty good both times (once for a candy coat full sus frame and once for a solid colour steel frame / forks).
I should say, my frame is black so the matching bit is at least easy!
Thanks for the tips
LSN are about £30-35 depending on what you need doing. You won’t get any cheaper unless you have friends in the business.
Plastikote... One can and about 20 minutes. Good, durable finish too.
Yes, the obvious other option is just to do it myself. I sprayed a frame once as a kid, but the result was so shoddy I'm not sure I should try again...
That said, it shouldn't be too hard. The forks are currently dark green, which is fine as a base colour, i.e. if I put a not-so-good-wearing layer of black on top it'd hardly be a disaster if the green started to show through
Use spray.bike to do it yourself. It looks amazing. I cant yet vouch for durability but one can for £8 will do your forks easily. Got to be worth a go. Search my recent post for the Trek I resprayed.
I had my old Gt mtb frame done at LSN... they were cheap I suppose, but the powder was applied very thick and everything needed chasing out afterwards including the headtube..

that wasn’t my experience and I’ve had 5 bike frames done, 4 forks, 2 stems and a set of 4x 17” car wheels.
+ one for LSN , I got my lefty stealth grey last year, they quoted me £50-55 and 2 weeks when I dropped it off, got a call 3 days later bikes ready it’ll be £30 :0)
the powedercoat is really thick, I had to file out a bit from the bb, but they do cover and paper wrap parts well otherwise
