Got used to buying spokes from Rosebikes but since they have stopped shipping to UK, I am struggling to find a supply that isn't 3-5 times the price; if they even have the size I want.

Used Cyclebasket in the past - would certainly use them again

Thanks for the pointers.

Just had a look at spokes from ryan - seems fair price-wise but still quite a bit more than the Germans were :(.

Pay more. Just accept it. Then have a beer.

Aci from Cycle basket are great. I had some halo ones from ebay a while ago and they were rubbish by comparison, started going rusty and snapping after a year or two.

The answer has always been cycle basket, why would it change?
Despite being one of the most established quality spoke manufacturer going ACI don't seem to get any kind of popular recognition.

And they've significantly updated their website by the look of it so no more early nineties nostalgia.

Good isn’t it, now the Germans will be more expensive and buying British is competitive.

Pay more. Just accept it. Then have a beer

Or if you are tea total help yourself to a brexit bounty instead of the beer

It's actually teetotal, but I'm not 100% certain why. It's not related to tea replacing booze though.

The sovereignty in UK-bought spokes really makes the trail come alive.

I’ve found the opposite. ACI silvers have been ok but I bought some ACI blacks and the black comes off. Whereas Halo have been absolutely fine for me.

ACI from cyclebasket, not sure why you would pay more to be honest. Built 4 or 5 wheelsets with these and always been spot on.

Never had an issue with the black coating either.

Another vote for Cycle Basket. Used ACI on my last wheelset and quality seems great.

I’m always bemused why people buy black spikes, they look naff and are more expensive. Silver spokes FTW.

Another one here for George Halls Cycles, Ive been using spokes from him for years for wheel builds and replacement spokes

Whatever length and style you need he generally has them or can get them and at a good price too

The Germans maybe cheaper for bike parts (pre Brexit) but the upside now is that UK bike shops, Distributors and all their employees etc.. will now have more business which is a good thing for the UK bike industry

I love buying my Swiss/Belgian/Italian spokes from a UK shop.

Definitely 'made a success of it'.

Buying directly from China or Taiwan is now the same as buying from Europe. When those UK supplies dry up, already more expensive parts will be more expensive again, pushing some people to look elsewhere, again.

Unless the UK starts manufacturing, fast, there won't be any benefit in this and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Who said anything about buying directly from China or Taiwan? the UK will never go back to large scale manufacturing of bike parts

I was saying now its cheaper to buy in the UK rather than Europe so if your money goes to UK bike shops and UK distributors your helping to keep people in the UK employed who then can hopefully spend their money with other businesses within the UK

Id rather spend my money within the UK which helps our economy rather than to buy directly from another country

Anyway has the OP had any luck?

Enough to make up for the fact lots of UK companies are setting up entities in the EU and taking jobs and investment there to get around the 'tariff free trade' omnishambles?
