Where to buy rechargeable retro looking bike lights?

Hi everyone,

My partner just started riding to work and with the nights closing in I want to get her some lights.

The bike she has bought is a Bobbin, and she has hinted she wants the lights to look in-keeping with the bike. The bike in question

I've done a quick Google, but found nothing that really looks any good, maybe I'm using the wrong search terms.

I'd like something that looks like this:

But is removable and rechargeable. The bobbin one looks like it stays on the bike and takes 3xAAA.

As for the rear light I think something mounted to the seatpost will be fine, unless there's something out there that is arguably better.

Thanks in advance.

would a dynamo light be a better solution? Decent ones are plenty bright enough, look like that, and no need for faffing with charging

Just buy some rechargeable AAA batteries and a battery charger? You could then carry spare batteries too.

I hadn't thought of a dynamo light, I remember from working in a bike shop (2013ish) they were pretty rubbish, are there any good brands to look out for/avoid?

Any dynamo lights with the German StVZO certification will be pretty decent. Think you can even get quite nice retro looking chrome ones that look a lot like the battery one you linked to.

Worth looking at SJS and Spa cycles for dynamo lighting and hubs, you can spend a modest sum or a small fortune, the major advantage is she'll never need to remember to charge anything. Plus retro styling is available.

Yeah, I've just got a new bike for commuting/urban/pub etc which has dynamo lights, they're ace, really bright plus now I can never forget to charge them 😂

The other thing, to save a lot of money and hassle, is for your partner to get over looks and just go with a set of USB rechargeable lights on QR mounts like every other sensible person in the world...Does your partner wear tweed when riding?

😉

Is that bobbin bike 700c?

I happen to have a 700c Shimano dynamo wheel removed from my old commuter (going disc on its replacement) I can take some photos and you can make make me an offer if you like, otherwise it's probably going on fleabay.
