Hi there, I'm on the look out for a 140/150 travel fork and just wondered if you guys knew where to look besides the usual?
I have looked at Merlin, CRC, Winstanley and the classifieds.
Looking for a new RS Rev or maybe a SH Fox float
All help appreciated, cheers
Bike discount.de, or bike24
j e james have good deals, but the forks all seems to be non retail
Mad thought what about a bike shop?
On One?
Mikewsmith - i'm not ruling it out but i'd at least like to know if i'm getting a fair price as i would have to travel to get to a decent shop. All my LBS's sell Apollo specials and the like
Cheers for the help
If you can find a good one you will probably get the useful things like a retail pair of forks with shock pump etc. Also fitted and steerer cut for you. Also not all of the same forks are the same some oem models may be heavier or not have the same damping carts and nobody tells you if it's oem - there is also potential warranty issues with them. Just my point of view mind you.
Rose.de
But yeah, watch out for grey imports & OE models sometimes even the retailers aren't aware of which is which.
I've had great deals here in the past, dunno what they're like at the moment.

2 pairs from bikediscount.de, both boxed with pumps, manuals, spare bits and bobs.
Can't see a reason to look further than merlin, RS prices are well cheap!
Freeborn bikes have got some good deals on
www.freeborn.co.uk
Rock Shox sektors from hibike or bike24?
Cheap. I think both coil and air versions have reviewed well.
Fitted a Sektor RL 150mm coil for a friend - seemed good, and came with a second set of seals and star nut. I think it was bike24.
i think i'd go for the Revs over the Sektors but can't decide over the 2012 dual air or 2013 solo air atm.
Merlin seem to be coming up trumps for cost, thanks again for all the links! Freebron seem really good if X fusion are your thing, i'm very tempted by the velvet but would prefer a bit more adjustablility.
"not all of the same forks are the same some oem models may be heavier or not have the same damping carts and nobody tells you if it's oem - there is also potential warranty issues with them"
Which is why I'd always check the model name and the advertised fork spec against the model names and fork specs on the manufacturers website. If they don't match 100% then likely a 'custom' OEM spec. Not that it'd really matter. If the spec suited what I was after and a decent price then I'd be happy
If I recieved a fork that didn't match the spec the retailer advertised then it'd go back
Warranty issue shouldn't on the face of it be different. ie you buy it from the retailer so the warranty is with them
Whether in reality the retailer are a PITA to deal with, or your options are more limited (eg replacement/refund/repair) etc will depend
have a look in the recycled section on CRC the often have display models for cheapness.
