Been doing some stuff on the track at Derby and fallen in love with track riding, so thoughts go towards buying my own track bike (mainly so I can use my own shoes and pedals. Where's a good place to look for a second hand bike?

I've tried Facebook and eBay, just wondered if there's a VelodromeTrackWorld classifieds that I'm not aware of?

A fair few of the regulars on the Middlesbrough track got them through Paul Curran in Stockton. Probably worth dropping him a line.

Langdales might be able to sort you out - https://www.langdalelightweights.co.uk/

Or see if anyone in Ilkeston CC/ Beeston CC are getting ride of one?

There is usually a board up for those advertising at the velodrome, at least there was at Manchester

What size are you after I might have one up for sale for the right price

Dolan make a few track frames

Just be careful what you buy, there's quite a few fixies out there advertised as "track bikes" that really don't have the geometry for it!

I sold mine (a Dolan) on eBay - in fact it was bought by someone who wanted to use it at Derby!

Check the notice boards at the venue, there's usually a few S/H bikes advertised for sale there.

I'm looking for something around a 54 or 56 ideally - I'll check out the links above, many thanks!

I'll also check Derby to see if there's a noticeboard up.

Thanks also for the heads up on fixie vs track geometry, I've tried to limit my searches to actual track bikes, as soon as I see drilling for brakes it's a bit of a giveaway!

I'd check out the London Fixed Gear and Single Speed (LFGSS) forum too. Have lurked on there for a long time, as a regular road fixed rider, and lots of 'proper'  track bikes come and go on there.

To be honest, as a starter for 10 you could just get a new Dolan Pre Cursa, which would be a fairly obvious choice of bike, for about £700... https://www.dolan-bikes.com/pre-cursa/

Mines too big for you.

Road fixes have a low bottom bracket which causes issues on the banking at low speeds,

I’m in Derby and have a Boardman TK that’s no longer in use. Are you looking for used or new?

I would buy from eBay. Always a good few to choose from and they don't hold their price that well used (especially with no brake drillings so most people wouldn't want to use on the road)

Do a search for (track, fixed) in Sporting Goods / Cycling / Bikes.
I can see at least 10 on there ranging from a 54 Dolan Pre Cursa with no bids for £300 to a Red Hook edition Cinelli with carbon wheels.

2nd ebay.

Track bikes seem to have a very comfortable life compared to even their road cousins. Poor condition is a chip on the top tube!

Thinking of giving it a go next season. Although our track is outdoors so I'm thinking of just getting a Langster.

Because of the almost total lack of wear of any kind even quite old track bikes seem to be not much cheaper than new, and they don't change hands that often. I got fed up of waiting for something in my price range and size so I bought one from Dolan's site.

I’ve got some FFWD 50mm tubs I need to sell, is this a track wheel?

thinking of just getting a Langster.

The.cause of more arguments with coaches than I care to remember

Track bikes tend to drop to a point and then hold value forever

Tubs are better than clinchers, some brands of clinchers don't stick well to wood

Make sure it's a 165mm chainset otherwise that's another discussion with the coaches
