A mate is looking for something along the lines of a Boardman Pro 29er. So XC oriented hardtail at under £1,000. He needs to get it via the cycle to work scheme. The obvious places to go are Cycle Surgery, Evans Bikes, Cycle Republic. Any others he should look at? He lives in London.

He is very much a cyclepath, towpath, occasional forays into Epping Forest rider. So doesn't need anything full-on, he does however cover big distances (up to 70 miles of paths/roads). He wants front suspension for the comfort. So far the Boardman looks the best option. Be nice to find him something steel, with a threaded bottom bracket.

Check out Sunset MTB. Got my c2w bike from them and they were ace. Some great deals about too.
