I'm struggling to justify £22.50 a quarter for a digital subscription to Cycling Weekly on top of Eurosport and Singletrack subscriptions.

Whilst I can get quite a lot of news updates from Eurosport, its all video stuff, whereas I quite like reading indvidual articles - which tend to have more background info etc. Plus Eurosport give the resuts away as soon as you go to the cycling tab - I've still not quite figured out how to navigate the new app.

Is there anywhere else good for (digital) news, reviews etc which is cheaper, or even free (if the ads don't make the site completely unuseable - i appreciate they've got to earn a crust somehow).

I find the GCN Racing Roundup in the app quite handy for a quick check over my early morning cuppa.

I used to be a CyclingTips fan but they have been acquired by the Outdoors group and fired most of their staff - who now seem set to launch their own venture*.

I now mostly look at the CyclingNews headlines without reading the articles. And listen to podcasts - The Cycling Podcast, Lanterne Rouge, *The Redundant Placeholders. And reading the Inrng blog.

CyclingWeekly is still free isn't it?

Good question.

I also used to read CyclingTips a lot. And I subscribed to ProCycling magazine, which sadly folded a few years ago.

Not sure anymore...

Don't really bother with anything except The Cycling Podcast.

r/peloton would prob be the main forum for pro cycling discussion and all news gets linked there.

Think it's decent but don't regularly check it - reddit is massive so the various subs will always be hit and miss, some are uniquely good, others can be inexplicably bad.

Firstcyclingcom is good for upcoming races, results and gc etc etc but not much narrative content.

Steephill.tv was my go-to but apparently it turns out to have been essentially a hobby project by a single individual and they could no longer find the time to keep it up to date.

Restricted to 5 articles a month, which is pretty useless when the season is in full swing, you can get that many in a day!

Oh I didn't realise Cycling weekly had the same 5 articles thing that Cycling News does.

Incognito browsing seems to defeat the 5 articles thing, but not really in the spirit of things. I paid a small annual CyclingTips subscription ($20/year iirc) but then they sacked all their staff.

Nooooo!

that was my way of watching random races! Didn’t realise it had gone…

wonder if it was too much work or if the rights holders shut it down.

At least it reduces the risk of NSFW pop up ads on the work computer 😉

Does anyone remember International Cycle Sport, a magazine published in the 80s? GrandpaJ used to write for it fairly regularly but I think it folded after a few years.
