I'm trying to service my RockShox SIDs. They are dual air, so the lower left leg is hollow and I need a deep socket to undo the air valve.
I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360935493327?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Not deep enough, anyone know where I can get a suitable socket?
Stick an extender bar on it.
An extender bar is no use. I should have been clear about that.
The schraeder valve is long (~50mm) with the 10mm bolt at the bottom. The socket has to go over the the entire length of the schraeder valve before it can engage the bolt.
I got mine (for the same job) from a local hardware store.
Failing that try Halfords/B&Q/Wilkinsons etc?
I bought a set of cheap tube sockets from a local car shop. Under a tenner.
This kind of thing. socketty thing
Excellent. Thanks for those 3 suggestions.
I've got a set of deep reach sockets I bought from Haldords nearly 20 years ago. 10-19mm if I recall correctly. They're spot on for forks, and I do quite a few....
You don't need anything special. 🙂
Box spanner is your friend here and they cost pennies
Ah! Box spanner! That's the name I couldn't think of.
I got one in Halfords they sell them in a cabinet under lock and key
Another vote for the Halfords deep reach sockets, in 3/8 usually as it's slimmer.
