I'm looking for an Alu hardtail singlespeed but all I can find is the Voodoo Bakor which has interchangable drop-outs. Why are all singlespeeds steel? Is there a reason for it?

I am looking for XC riding with around 100-110mm suspension geometry so the Chameleon - an obvious thought - is not an ideal choice.

I think the Whyte Trial 19 is an alu frame with changeable dropouts (or is it an EBB?) But is this on all years?

So. Alu, mid-travel XC singlespeed. What are the options?

Don't bother with EBBs. Slot drop outs work, and they work well.

The Whyte 19 comes with two drive-side dropouts, one with a threaded hole for a mech and one without, if you want to run SS.

They are ridden by luddites, luddites do not want to use the new fangled material (aluminium)

er,Voodoo Aizan,ok its Scandium, which is of course another alloy of Ally, and it's a 29er,which is ,of course a mans bike, not a kiddie trainer wheeled toy.
Oh actualy it's also a very light frame, rides very well, and can run gears (why you'd wanna do that is any one's guess tho)
so, buy one then.

You can change the dropouts on a Kona Five-0 too.

The forks on my chameleon are set to 100-110, works fine for me. Managed a hilly 35 miles on Saturday no problem.

Most are steel because the niche-wh0res want to think they're niche and steel is less common than alu...

(mine's steel though 😳 )
