To avoid travelling to exercise, a friend and I have resorted to XC rides from home and some urban exploration.

With concrete singletrack, monster stair sets and back alley racing it’s been great fun.

Has anybody else found new places to ride as a result of lockdown?

Lights, camera, ASBOs!

Slowly painting Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth and Coventry orange!

Midweek winter rides tend to be urban when its cold, wet and muddy, way more fun and less clean up afterwards.

That is the best biking video I’ve ever seen.
People doing relevant riding and having an absolute hoot doing it.
Thank you.

Lots of places I used to ride round as a kid. I don't think I'd have done all those stairs down to the harbour on my pig iron Apollo though.

Yep pretty much locked down to bham city Center riding, found some additional canal routes I haven’t rode before and just generally whizzing through the empty city Center is fun, although get a few odd looks bouncing down the steps at bullring..hs2 is playing havoc with my escapes back to the canal as everyday they move the path 🤣

Been using my commuter bike which is an Orange Speedworks, one of the original ones so it’s more mtb than hybrid, but it’s perfect for this type of biking, it’s a lousy commuter due to no mudguards but city adventures it’s good fun!

For a few years, since before lockdown, as not much in the way of trails around here. Only a 1 car family too, needed for my partners business often working weekends means I don't get out much. It lead me on to get a street trials bike! Moved now, so now I ride pallets in the back garden. "Thanet Gnar". Your town looks more fun to ride than mine too. Shit trails. Shit towns. Don't move to Thanet if you love MTB.

Great video!

And @SirHC - a friend of mine has been doing that locally which, because we live in a reasonably rural location is a mix of regular roads, little cul-de-sac estates but also long farm tracks out into the hills.

The other one I really like is this, a guy who varied his commute from Walworth to central London over the course of several years in order to ride every street:

Yes, lots of stair sets and multi story car park racing (Dual racing, leader is not allowed to pedal, leave a gap on the inside because block passes are fair game).

Added bonus of plenty of shops in town to buy cold beers while out.

Was I the only one who found the music highly annoying?

Nice to see fist pumps etc, but sick not mentioned once, most disappointing for some rad gnarr mtb vids.

Content up there with the likes of Pilgrim .... apart from the above.

Excellent. Used to do a fair bit of that around here, but locals got quite vocal in their opposition… stepping into your path on very steep narrow slippery steps… often mumbling about their cats or their washing. The friction put me off. Shame.

This popped up on my youtube feed.

I am conflicted. Shame we don't have anything like this in the UK I'm aware of.

Ah I bloody love Scarborough!! I always thought the cliffs on North Bay would make for a perfect set of long switchbacky descents

Really enjoyed that. Decent amount of steps, ginnels, bridges, canals to go at here in Leeds!

Brilliant! My local trails are only a short pedal away but I always love doing some urban silliness. I’ve got so used to livening up my commute with some fun drops and hops!

A chap I know has always taken a bike on tour - if there’s proper MTBing accessible then that happens. If not it’s urban assault! He told me a great story of him doing the stair sets at the Hyde Park underground car park, with the vocalist on video and lookout duties, when they were playing Brixton. Rock and roll!

Thanks for all of the comments guys - it’s much appreciated.

Always been grateful to have some decent forest trails nearby but we’re also lucky to have this good concrete gnar too. Nice to see that others have been doing similar.

Can’t wait to get back to the roots and mud though.

Nice little edit that is..
Looks like the population of your town are following the rules. If I were to do that around Leicester, in places it would look like a normal Saturday afternoon.
