Does anyone know when they first emerged, or if/when any one major brand in particular adopted stack and reach as a prominent measure of geometry?

The data has always been around, it's just that marketing types hadn't realised they could use it to their benefit, so unless you knew what you were looking at, it was just some random figures that may of required a little bit extra calculation.

I seem to remember Transition doing a pictographic on it at some point a few years ago, however a Google suggests they were trying to get traction for it (along with Turner) a whole decade ago...

I actually find front centre quite useful for working out how likely I am to get toe overlap, especially on drop bar bikes.
