Dear hive mind,

Any idea when orange topped producing 26" QR P7's?

Looking at a bike that is claimed to be a 2016 but I'm inclined to believe that orange stopped doing 26" earlier.

Any help appreciated.

Having a look on the Orange website's archive they have a QR 26" P7 for 2012 but nothing from '13 to '15 with the 27.5 one appearing in 2016. Could be that they bought an old stock one in 2016 but it's of the 2012 version?

I think I got one of the very last ones. I think it was 2012. I've had it ten years

If you're toying with the idea of buying one, do it. I think its the best bike I've ever owned. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Its like triggers broom and has been seen in all manner of guises. I recently rebuilt it (again!) and the only original part left on the frame after ten years is the seat clamp.

Its presently set up as a commuter/bridleway pootler/pub bike and gets ridden more than my more modern, more expensive things. They're a fantastic bike! I love it!

The Orange P7 came out a bit back as the Pure 7(26") on about 2012.. But it had changed from alloy to cro-mo and weighed considerably more. I bought a 2nd hand one but was quite taken aback by the weight and sold it without even building it.

I'm toying with the idea of buying it as a general hack to supplement my gravel bike and drop bar 29er through winter and for taking to glentress - reds and blues. More interested in fun than speed! No KOMs will be attempted 😉

The bike I am looking at has the cables rputed over the top tube. I notice @binners are routed below the top tube. Is that clue to age?

2010 or earlier then according to the Orange bikes archive...

I’d say it’s ideal for what you want it for. It definitely ticks the ‘fun’ box. Mine was never running the risk of any KOM’s with me on it!

The geometry is a bit different on earlier ones, but mines great with 130
