I want to keep a spare set of 27.5" wheels with slick road tyres on for when the trails are too wet and I fancy a blast on the roads.

I don't want to spend much as I won't be using them very often but these two brands come up on Fleabay and Amazon (WheelsON / Madspeed7) for around £90 including cassette and disk rotor.

Has anyone bought these? Or have any experience with these brands?

I'm not looking for great quality but I don't want to throw money away either.

I also don't want to buy (another) road bike just for the odd winter spin.

Just pump your current tyres up and crack on. If it’s not very often it’s not worth the hassle of changing.

/\ that.

You find that you’ll have to reset the brake calipers every time you change too, which is a PITA.

Then there’s chain/cassette wear issues.

It's a good suggestion but I run a Magic Mary / Hans Damf combo which is pretty sticky on tarmac and I seem to have to reset brake calipers every ride anyway!

I'll give it a go tho. I'm all for an easy life.

I bought a wheelson front after an incident with a car park barrier...
Chosen purely on price. It’s been ok for light Xc/gravel type stuff

Thanks Doc.

I also have my original wheel with a shot hub in the shed. If I can pick up a cheap hub I might have a go at rebuilding my old wheel for fun; although I can see that ending badly!
